Description

Our natural rosemary hydrolate for aromatherapy is obtained from the species with the botanical name Rosmarinum Officinalis. In international practice, the product is designated as Rosemary Natural Hydrolat. The plant belongs to the Lamiaceae family, whose members hold their volatile substances in the aerial part rather than in the root. The aerial stalk is used for extraction; its leaves are linear to lanceolate, needle-like and with outward-curved margins, characteristic of this species. The volatile fraction accumulates in peltate glandular trichomes, which have an extensive secretory cavity in the leaf tissue. The plantations grow in Bulgaria, and their care excludes synthetic agents and the application of mineral fertilizers. Steam distillation gives the scent a clean progression, because the aqueous phase takes up only the light soluble constituents coming from the aerial stalk of the plant. The liquid is clear and homogeneous, and its color ranges from colorless to slightly pink. The faint coloring comes from the scant amount of coloring substances in the distillate. The aroma is strong, slightly spicy and with a bitter nuance. The most frequently described constituents of this species are cineole, pinene and camphor, accompanied by camphene and borneol throughout the olfactory picture of the distillate. The spicy side of the scent is due precisely to these volatile constituents, while the bitter nuance follows it and lingers longer in the perception. The entirely natural composition admits neither preservatives nor colorants. The absence of additives leaves the olfactory profile dependent solely on the aerial mass and on the care the plantations receive in the country. Natural cultivation preserves the ratio between the volatile constituents in the stalk, which keeps the profile even throughout the scent. The stalk origin of the rosemary can be perceived until the very last moment.

Storage

Store natural rosemary hydrolate in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +4°C to +10°C to limit the growth of microorganisms. After opening, use the contents within 6 to 12 months and limit the amount of air in the container. Use only aluminum or glass bottles for aromatherapy products, preferably dark glass, which protect the aromatherapy hydrolate from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and contaminants from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the freshness and quality of the product for a longer period.
